Platform Engineering Manager

Overview

A senior management role, part of the technology services management team, to lead a technical team to support and administer the network, cloud and end user computing requirements for the British Medical Association and its operating companies to achieve their business objectives. 

The role holder will provide team leadership, technical support, and administration and be responsible for the efficient running of the network, cloud and end user computing and database services, Office 365 and further end user systems. Motivating and leading a small team, the role holder will be able to translate the fulfilment of the directorate's objectives into actionable plans. 

Experience

Proven experience in security and administration of PaaS, SaaS, IaaS cloud based services and end user computing. Knowledge of network technology and services. Experience in leading, organising and coordinating small teams. Ability to co-ordinate activities of other BMA Technology Services colleagues and third parties to complete tasks. Good interpersonal skills are critical; the post involves much interaction with users in the BMA and BMJ, with vendors and 3rd parties. Ability to set technical direction, to support project delivery and meet service and business continuity standards. An acute awareness of and proven ability to incorporate data security practices and controls in all areas of infrastructure and platforms. A creative thinker who seeks opportunities to improve processes. A professional who demonstrates progressive learning and certification in order to apply best practice.
