Senior Media Officer, Campaigns and Features Lead
Job Overview
Would you like to join the media team for one of the country’s most prominent health associations? The British Medical Association – a professional association and the largest trade union for doctors - is looking for a Senior Media Officer with responsibility for features and campaigns.
You'll be joining the Media and News Relations team. Reporting to the Head of Media and News Relations, you'll support the team and wider BMA to maintain the Association’s prominent profile in the media, working on the campaigns, briefings and press releases which help put the BMA at the leading edge of key aspects of health and NHS policy.
In addition, you'll have specific responsibility for supporting the BMA’s proactive campaign and features work, as well as proactively promoting the work of the BMA as a trade union and professional association.
We’re looking for someone with not only the proven expertise in media campaigns and with excellent writing skills, but who also has good political acumen, with demonstrable understanding of the current policy and political landscape. Ideally you will come from a very busy PR or media background within a large membership organisation or agency, have a good and relevant media contacts and be educated to degree level – preferably with additional qualifications in communications and public relations.
First class news judgement, enthusiasm and the ability to interpret information and know what makes a story newsworthy, as well the ability to keep a level head during a crisis and deal with the media, are also a must.
