Library and evidence support archives specialist

Job Overview

We are looking for a dynamic Archives specialist to implement the collections development policy that supports the archive’s development strategy; ensuring that the collection is catalogued and cared for to a high standard and that BMA members, staff and researchers can access material in a variety of formats. The role will have oversight of both electronic and print collections and physical objects and is a part of the BMA’s library and evidence support team.  The Archives specialist will ensure the effective delivery and implementation of user-focused, high quality archives services to support the needs of the BMA and its members.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Experience of managing archive collections, ideally in a health or academic environment.
  • Experience of cataloguing material in a variety of formats.
  • Experience of collections care and conservation.
  • Commitment to ensuring access for all of the BMA’s members, staff and researchers and the ability to build strong professional relationships, networks and to promote collections and services innovatively.
  • Excellent communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.
