The British Medical Association (BMA) is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK.  We represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students.

About the role

Our Council Secretariat is responsible for providing support to our elections, corporate and political governance structures, ensuring that our committees and internal structures work effectively.

In this newly created role, the Elections and Committee officer will be responsible for carrying out elections for all BMA committees following the standard election process. They will provide project and administration support in the organisation and delivery of elections and appointments across the BMA. This is a fixed term contract role for 9 months.

The role is hybrid role will involve a mix of working at BMA House and from home.

As an Elections and Committee Officer you will:

 

·       Oversee the smooth running of all the BMA elections

·       Arrange and attend meetings, drafting minutes and despatching agendas

·       Develop member communications to engage our membership with the elections

·       Assist with regular reporting on election outcomes

·       Support the team by undertaking research and drafting written reports

 

To be successful as an Elections & Committee Officer you’ll have:

 

·       Excellent attention to detail with the ability to grasp new concepts quickly

·       Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills (essential)

·       Strong written and verbal communication skills

·       Good relationship building and management skills

·       Proven ability to work to strict deadlines and competing priorities

·       Experience of providing project support

·       Strong database management skills
