Governance Officer

Job Overview

The BMA is looking to recruit a Governance Officer with exceptional organisational skills to provide high level support to our main policy making conference, divisions and governance committees. This is a varied but key role which includes committee administration and conference management.

To succeed in this role, you will have an impeccable eye for detail, be highly organized, thrive in a busy and active working environment and be able to grasp new concepts quickly. You will also need good writing skills, an ability to provide exceptional committee support including liaising with chairs and members, preparing and distributing agendas and reports, minute-writing and follow-up actions.

You will be adaptable, be able to work flexibly and to respond to changing demands quickly and in a positive manner to support the work across the team. An understanding of election administration would also be favourable.

Council secretariat is responsible for providing support to our corporate and political governance structures, ensuring that our committees and internal structures work effectively and dynamically. It is also responsible for the planning and delivery of the BMA`s main annual policy making conference.

We currently have a hybrid working arrangement – with some days working from home and some days in the office each week. Attendance at our Annual Representative Meeting which is usually held in June/July each year will also be required.
