Head of Branch of Practice Committees
The BMA is seeking a senior manager for its Branch of Practice Committees (BoPs). This is a wide-ranging role covering governance, management of strategic priorities, development of internal approaches and structures, budgets, line-management and project work. BoP committees represent the major groups which doctors in the UK identify with and the post-holder will be expected to have a good understanding of these groups and their current priorities.
The role will involve management of a team of around 20 staff including a team of managers who will report to the post-holder. The role involves working closely with staff and elected officials to deliver benefits through the committees for BMA members based on the strategic priorities of the Association. The post-holder will sit inside the BMA's National Negotiations and Representation team and will report to the Head of that team.
Experience of management, governance in a membership organisation, budgets and leading projects are the key requirements needed for the role. A good understanding of the issues facing doctors and the health sector would be beneficial.
