About the role

We’re looking for a Head of Business Applications to join the BMA. This is a newly created role within the Technology Services directorate and the successful candidate will be a part of the Senior Management team within the directorate reporting into the Chief Information Officer.

The successful candidate will play a critical role in driving the BMA’s digital transformation and ensure that technology aligns with business objectives. The role requires strong leadership, and although not a hands-on role, solid  technical expertise and a deep understanding of both business and IT processes. The role is responsible for managing a large applications portfolio and will also line manage and develop a team who are responsible for the development, integration, maintenance, testing and support of business applications.

This is a hybrid role and will involve a mix of working at home and at BMA House in central London.

 

To be successful as a Head of Business Applications you’ll have:

  • Extensive experience with business application development (full stack) with a minimum of four years within a Microsoft environment
  • 3 years + experience in a senior management role in an organisation of 150+
  • Experience of managing and developing a team
  • Proven experience of delivery against £1million + programme portfolio
  • Certification in Microsoft Azure Cloud
  • Certifications/experience of .NET language (C#) with further scripting language knowledge an advantage
  • Ability to understand the technical and business context in which solutions sit
  • Ability to plan and assess priorities with experience in agile plan methodoloigies
  • Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong relationship building and collaboration skills
  • Budget management experience
