About the BMA

The BMA is the recognised trade union and professional association for doctors and medical students in Northern Ireland.

BMA Northern Ireland supports our members in a fight for fair terms and conditions including pay, provides collective bargaining in workplaces and individual representation.

About the role:

We're looking for a Head of IndustrialRelations to join us in Belfast. Our Member Relations team supports members acrossNorthern Ireland and the successful candidate will be accountable for leading ateam todeliverservices and functions relating to employment and workplace representation. The Head ofwill also be part of the senior management team within Northern Ireland, contributing to the strategic direction.

Weare looking for someone who is up for the challenge of helping the BMA to become a more effective and powerful trade union advocate for its members.

This role is based in our office in Belfast.

To be successful as a Head of Industrial Relations you'll have:

  • Considerable experience working at a strategic / leadership level within a Trade Union or similar environment
  • Expertise in industrial relations, employment law,bargaining & HR
  • Knowledge of medical political issues and healthcare landscapesin Northern Ireland
  • Experience of managing and developing a small team
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship building skills
  • Negotiation skillsand problem solving ability
  • Excellent communication skills
