About the role

An exciting opportunity to join the BMA's media and news relations team, part of the wider Communications and Policy directorate.

The BMA's media office is extremely busy and we are often at the forefront of national and regional news agendas. This permanent role will provide support to the media team in day-to-day activities with some requirement for data analysis and reporting and research. This role  aims to provide specific support to the day-to-day outputs and has opportunities to develop media and PR skills such as writing, media relations, and drafting briefings.

The role also involves liaising with national ands regional media as well as many of the BMA's elected members and some of our key stakeholders.

This is a hybrid role and will involve a mix of working from home and (min 1 day per week) from BMA House in Central London.

As a Junior Media Officer you will:

  •  Support the National News Lead and the Regional News Lead in undertaking data and case study research tasks and drafting press comments and letters.
  • Conduct analysis and reporting of the BMA’s media coverage at a national a regional level.
  • Provide support to the wider media team in helping triage media inquiries using established protocols, gathering data for briefings, drafting press releases and comments.
  • Any other duties as reasonably directed.

 

To be successful as a Junior Media Officer you'll ideally have:

  • Experience working in a busy press office - preferably in a national membership organisation or one which has a strong health related theme.
  • Good interpersonal skills 
  • Ability to develop strong trusted relationships with media and BMA members
  • Have a great eye for a story
  • Ability to translate often complex information into briefings and sections of a press release

We anticipate interviews will take place w/c 8th July.
