Library and evidence support information specialist

Job Overview

We are looking for a skilled library and evidence support information specialist to deliver innovative, highly specialised services that support the implementation of the library’s e-first strategy; ensuring that all services are member-led, have equality of access and are cost effective and sustainable. This will include the effective delivery and implementation of user-focused, high-quality information services such as literature searching, research support and current awareness, to support the needs of the BMA and its members and to position our services as the library of the future.

To succeed in this role you will need:

  • Experience of carrying out high quality literature searches on a broad range of medical, education and healthcare management topics, delivering training and providing support on the use of online resources.
  • You will have the ability to analyse, interpret and synthesise complex information and critically evaluate and appraise medical research. 
  • You will need excellent communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.


The British Medical Association (BMA) is the professional association and trade union for doctors and medical students in the UK. It has a prominent and influential position at the very heart of current debate over the future of healthcare provision.

If you would like to help the BMA in its association wide activities focusing on ensuring that all of the BMA`s members are able to access excellent information services when they need them - this role is for you.

Interviews will take place on 12, 13, 14, 16 April.
