Product Manager

Job Overview

Exciting opportunity for an experienced product manager to join the product management team at the British Medical Association (BMA) on a fixed term (10-month maternity cover) contract. This is a key role in developing and enhancing BMA products and services to support our mission of `we look after doctors so they can look after you`.


Membership of the BMA gives doctors access to a wide range of products and services that support them in their day to day lives (from employment advice services to learning products and resources).

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Creating product strategies and roadmaps aligned to BMA corporate strategy
  • Enhancing existing products and services and developing new ones to meet member needs (the role holder will be required to work collaboratively with colleagues and members in the creation and development of products and services)
  • Ensuring that new products and services are developed in accordance with the BMA`s product development process, so that developments are aligned to overarching product management and corporate strategy, follow a creative, collaborative process from ideation to launch and make best use of existing assets
  • Developing and managing strategic partnerships with third parties in order to deliver products and services to members
  • Monitoring the performance of existing products and services and identifying and executing remedial actions
  • Managing a marketing executive.


Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven product management expertise and experience (creating product strategies and roadmaps, and managing products through the full lifecycle)
  • Proven digital experience (developing, launching and managing digital products)
  • Experience of developing and managing products and services in a variety of formats (from services delivered face to face through to digital apps)
  • Experience of conducting and commissioning research to inform product development
  • Strong analytical and data skills, including experience of using data to inform product development
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially collaboration, stakeholder management, leadership and influencing
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including thinking creatively to resolve issues
  • Project management experience
  • Experience of working with agile methodologies
  • Educated to degree level and with a relevant qualification / qualified by relevant experience
