Sales Executive (Events)

About the role

BMA House is the headquarters of the British Medical Association (the BMA) and is a stunning grade II listed building in the heart of Bloomsbury. This role is part of the venues and events team which are responsible for selling BMA House as an events space.

We're looking for a Sales Executive to join us on a fixed term contract until the end of July 2025.

This role will play a key part in growing BMA House as an events venue and improving its presence in different markets. 

The main responsibilities for this role include:

  • The role involves a mix of reactive and proactive business, so will involve presence at Tradeshows but support with the reactive enquiries and confirming new business events. 
  • To sell events at BMA House to external clients
  • Key account management – responsible for maintaining and increasing revenue from allocated client accounts
  • Receive and respond to incoming enquiries for external clients
  • Convert bookings through effective communication and show rounds with clients
  • To liaise with clients to plan confirmed events and invoice correctly
  • Work with marketing to identify ways to grow new target markets
  • Attendance at trade shows and networking events to generate new business
  • Use the Venue Management System to accurately record client data and requirements for events and the CRM system for contacts met at Tradeshows
  • Follow ups after tradeshows via email and encourage new bookings

The role is based full time on site at BMA House in central London. The role requires flexibility to meet the demands including some weekend/ evening work and some early starts and late finishes. You will be required to attend industry trade shows and networking events to raise the profile of BMA House.

To be successful in this role you'll ideally have:

  • Previous experience in a similar business development and sales role within events/ hospitality
  • Exceptional communication and customer service skills 
  • Excellent relationship building and networking skills
  • Prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Strong IT skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
