Senior HR Advisor
Job Overview
The British Medical Association (BMA) is the trade union and professional body for doctors in the UK. We represent, support and negotiate on behalf of all UK doctors and medical students to secure better pay and conditions for the profession.
We are looking for a Senior HR Advisor to join our HR team on a 12 month fixed term contract.
The successful candidate will partner with senior managers and directors, working on people solutions and plans to deliver short, medium and long term objectives. They will deliver on people initiatives at a local level ensuring that service requirements are understood and that solutions are optimally designed.
The successful candidate will lead on employee relations issues within their business area, alongside coaching and supporting line managers, to enable them to resolve any people issues informally. They will also work with managers across the Association to enhance their confidence, leading and motivating skills.
This is a hybrid role and will involve a mix of working at BMA House and from home.
To be successful in this role you will be:
- Educated to degree level or with a similar professional qualification (e.g. MCIPD)
- An experienced Senior HR Advisor or equivalent, within a professional and commercial organisation
- Experienced in employee relations, case management and advising on particularly complicated, sensitive or high profile cases
- Experienced in drafting new policies in accordance with best practice and changing legislation
You will be someone who can demonstrate:
- Commerciality and strong knowledge of current UK employment law, procedures and processes
- Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
- Strong problem solving skills with an excellent attention to detail
- Ability to build strong and trusted relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels
- Advanced analytical and judgement skills which require management of complex facts and problems
- Strong strategic influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to collaborate with colleagues within the HR team and across the wider Association
