We're looking to recruit a Senior Policy Adviser (Research) to join the Public Health and Healthcare team, within our Communications and Policy directorate. This department is responsible for ensuring the BMA maintains a strong, influential position in the eyes of stakeholders, the Government, media and doctors.
This role is a fixed term contract for 6 months.
The Senior Policy Adviser will provide expert policy advice, research, analysis and guidance to a variety of audiences including senior staff, committees, chief officers and members. They will draft written policy and research reports for external publication, working closely with the Policy Advice and Research Officers in the team alongside managing the delivery of policy projects.
This is a hybrid role with a mix of working at home and from our Central London office. This role would suit somebody with experience working in a policy environment with responsibility for their own portfolio of policy issues and projects. The successful candidate will be a specialist adviser and subject matter expert on a number of policy areas within the team.
To be successful as a Senior Policy Adviser you’ll ideally have:
· Previous experience of working in policy, initiating and taking forward work in relevant policy areas
· Experience developing policy solutions, preferably with stakeholders
· Ability to understand complex data and research and to support others in the team
· Excellent written skills with experience of drafting and presenting outcome based policy reports and briefings
· Ability to communicate clearly and concisely and convey information in a succinct way
· Experience of working closely with media, social media and public affairs teams to achieve policy aims
· Experience in forming strategic relationships with counterparts in stakeholder organisations
