Senior Policy Adviser
Job Overview
The BMA’s medical ethics and human rights department is seeking to appoint a senior policy adviser. The role will include both policy development/promotion and responding to enquiries from individual BMA members.
This is a fascinating position in a dynamic and intellectually challenging field.
The candidate must have:
- experience of working in the field of medical ethics, medical law or domestic/international human rights, or a relevant academic background;
- proven analytical abilities (ideally with an MA or equivalent qualification in medical law and ethics, although this is not essential);
- strong writing and communication skills – the candidate must be able to express complex ethical issues to an educated, non-academic audience, both orally and in writing;
- an ability to establish strong professional relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders;
- proven administrative and organisational skills, including an eye for detail; and
- the ability to work independently and as part of a small team
The candidate must also be comfortable promoting BMA policy on medical ethics irrespective of their own personal views.
