About the role

Ensuring the BMA leads the debate on a wide range of medical education and training issues is an important function of the directorate.

As a Senior Policy Advisor in the regulation, education and training team you will provide expert policy advice and guidance on education and training matters (predominantly focusing on postgraduate training) to a variety of audiences. This will include senior staff, committees, chief officers and members. You will analyse and develop policy proposals, produce briefings, guidance and other support materials and represent the BMA at external meetings, conferences and other events. You will also provide policy support to BMA committees on education and training matters.

To be successful as a Senior Policy Advisor you'll ideally have:

  • Experience of open policy development in a health or health-related context.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to present policy reports to a variety of audiences
  • Sound judgement and be adept at influencing senior figures and managing relationships.
  • Ability to form and establish relationships with stakeholders across the association
  • Experience of working with committees and knowledge of medical education and training in healthcare would be desirable.
