Job Purpose:
The Senior Programme Manager oversees the design and delivery of content for the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare in Europe. This role involves managing stakeholder relationships with national and international event committees, conducting audience and topic research to identify speakers and trends, leading a team of subject matter experts, and ensuring successful content delivery.
The ideal candidate has experience in designing complex conference programmes for the health and care industry and excels in relationship-building with senior global health representatives. A knowledgeable of key quality improvement principles is desirable.
About the Forum:
The International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare, co-hosted by BMJ and IHI, is a leading global conference with events in Europe, Asia, and Australia, drawing over 5000 delegates from 70+ countries annually. The European Forum, the flagship event, attracts 3000 delegates each year, supporting the global movement for patient safety and healthcare improvement.
Key responsibilities will include:
Overall management of the programme for the International Forum on Quality and Safety in Healthcare: Europe region, a multi stream event for 3000+ delegates over 3 days with a 10-12 stream agenda.
Stakeholder management of partner and programme advisory committees (featuring 30-50 international representatives of CEO level or equivalent)
Management of a call for speakers across 6 core topic areas, co-ordinating a robust review process and liaising with subject matter experts to make final decisions on successful abstracts
Writing marketing copy around the programme, highlighting why audiences should attend and the themes and features of the agenda
Speaker invitations and management of speaker logistics, including management of speaker budgets, negotiating fees and contracts for high level keynote speakers, and providing detailed briefings and support on the best way to deliver their content.
Collaboration with the event logistics, sales and marketing teams to ensure smooth delivery of all programme elements.
On site management of content for events, including liaison with speakers, production teams, technicians, venue staff and internal team
Skills experience and qualifications
High levels of interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrable experience of working with very senior roles within health and care systems.
A good working knowledge of the key principles of quality improvement within healthcare, and the various networks that exist within this space.
Good management skills, and ability to quickly adapt to working within a new team
High level written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write eye catching programme descriptions and marketing copy about the agenda
Robust attention to detail
Ability to work towards strict deadlines, adapt to changing circumstances and balance competing priorities
