Senior Venue Weddings and Events Planner

About the role

BMA House is the headquarters of the British Medical Association (BMA) and is a stunning grade II listed building in the heart of Bloomsbury. This role is part of the venues team who are responsible for selling BMA House to drive revenue into the BMA.

As a Senior Weddings and Event planner you will play a key part in growing BMA House as an events venue and improving its presence in the wedding & social market. This is a fixed term contract role for up to 12 months.


The main responsibilities for this role include:


  • Supporting the Sales and Marketing Manager to proactively identify ways for us to improve our presence in the wedding and social market
  • Work with key platforms to drive more wedding and evening business  
  • To create an SLA for weddings and take a more creative approach to this market
  •  Receive and respond to incoming enquiries in a timely manner
  • To plan and execute events, maximising revenue at all times and use the support of the team to deliver these
  • To work to develop our current package offering and benchmarking against competitors
  • To act as a brand ambassador for BMA House and to support other members of the team by being a first point of contact in the absence of management

To be successful in the role you'll ideally have:

  • Previous and demonstrable experience in an events planning or equivalent role
  • A background in hospitality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Time management skills in order to deal with the demands of tight deadlines and prioritise competing demands
  • Problem solving skills with an ability to negotiate  
  • Previous wedding planning experience (desirable)
  • A personal license and knowledge of liquor laws (desirable)
