Senior Policy Advisor
Job Overview
We are looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join the Independent Contractor Doctors team, within Pay and Contracts, on a fixed term basis (maternity cover). This team carries out the BMA`s work on contractual matters for independent contractors doctors (GPs, locums, independent doctors and Primary Care Networks) and supports negotiations on aspects of their terms and conditions, including funding and pay.
In this role you will:
- advise senior staff and the BMA`s elected leadership on the objectives, goals, and strategies to underpin their negotiations
- be developing briefings, guidance and other practical support materials to help BMA members understand their contracts
- work with many internal and external stakeholders and develop positive working relationships
- be responsible for developing and implementing policy related to contracts and pay
To succeed in this role, you will need to:
- be adept at influencing senior figures and managing relationships
- have experience in policy development in a health or health-related context,
- have excellent research and writing skills and sound judgement.
- having an understanding of how collective bargaining works is desirable.
